Mattress Comfort and a Good Night's Sleep

By Stephan Thomlinson

You just cannot overemphasize the important of a good night's rest no matter how you choose to look at it. People spend a third of their life sleeping in order to recharge their body and when you are not comfortable at night, you body cannot fully recharge leaving you feeling tired and stressed out in the mornings. Your bed is the key to this rest and it can help you live a longer and fuller life.

Comfort versus medical health?

It is important to remember that while a bed may be extremely comfortable, it may not always be better for your health. When choosing a bed you also need to take the time to determine what is right for your health as well.

Bed size helps make your sleep more comfortable.

Some of us can seem to get comfortable and have a good night's rest on a reclining chair while at the same time others may need a California King in order to stretch out on. If you need more space to sleep comfortably, do not sleep on a smaller bed.

Proper head and knee elevation will lead to a longer life.

Your body is not designed to lay perfectly flat and although the bed does help with this, if you are suffering from diabetes or possibly even heart disease then you also need to make sure that you have good circulation all night long.

Is your bed really clean?

This eludes many people who change their bedding regularly. Your bed is not clean unless it is sanitized on a regular basis. Everyone sweats at night and when the bed absorbs it, it creates a breeding ground for bacteria and mites.

When to replace your bed?

Your bed is only designed to last so many years and after that it will simply fall apart. The fabric will begin to tear and the coil springs will loose their strength. You cannot prevent the degradation of the springs, but you can ensure that the mattress lasts that long by taking care of it on a regular basis

No matter how you choose to look at it, eventually your bed will fall apart and as it does your ability to have a good night's rest will slowly degrade. Make sure that you replace the mattress long before this occurs so that you can enjoy the fruits of a great night's sleep every night of the year.
